The Research and Support Center on Higher Education for People with Hearing and/or Visual Disabilities has been accredited as the hub of higher education for the disabled, which is one of the Joint Usage Center for Education by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2010. We provide consultation for various problems received from teachers and staff of other higher education institutions where they support service for students with disabilities.

Postsecondary Education Programs Network of Japan (PEPNet-Japan)

To offer a better learning environment for auditory and visually impaired students who are studying at universities and colleges throughout Japan, this network consists of mainly those 22 universities and institutions intensively involved in supporting such students. While providing auditory-impaired students with consulting services, creating teaching materials and building model case examples, we are adopting different types of know- how and the most advanced technologies for education activities of our university through this network and offering them widely in Japan thereby to contribute to the reinforcement of the domestic support system. Especially, soon after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and subsequent tsunami, and the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes, we cooperated in confirming the safety of auditory- impaired students in disaster areas and offered learning opportunities for them by using the remote information security technology.
